Beth Fredrick, Senior Vice President and Chief Operating OfficerBeth Fredrick has been instrumental in guiding the strategic development of the Guttmacher Institute and its contributions to sexual and reproductive health over the past two decades. Ms. Fredrick is a frequent speaker on the role of research findings in policy and program development, and has managed successful communications initiatives, fundraising campaigns and partnerships throughout the United States and worldwide. Her areas of interest include adolescent sexual and reproductive health, reproductive and women’s rights, HIV and family planning linkages, poverty reduction and new technologies in sexual and reproductive health. In 1995, she participated in the NGO Forum of the United Nations Fourth World Conference on Women in Beijing as part of the Institute’s delegation. As a visiting fellow at the Harvard Center for Population and Development Studies in 1997, she focused on global communications. She is a member of the International Union for the Scientific Study of Population, the New York Academy of Sciences, Population Association of America and the Association of Reproductive Health Professionals. She serves on the boards of ScenariosUSA and the Thiele Sardina Foundation, is a former co-chair of the AIDS and Adolescents Network of New York and is a former board member of Women in Financial Development. She has been with the Institute since 1985, and served as Director of Communications and Development from 1987 to 2004. In 2000, she was named Vice President, and in 2004, became Senior Vice President and Chief Operating Officer. In this capacity, she oversees implementation of the Institute’s strategic plan and day-to-day management of finances, development, information technology and human resources. Ms. Fredrick holds a B.A. from the University of Wisconsin.
